About Gill Thwaites

Gill is a mental health specialist from Hertfordshire. She is a retired social worker and now volunteers with The Farming Community Network (FCN) – a charity that provides practical and pastoral support to members of the farming community who are going through difficult times, whether the issue is personal or business-related. FCN runs a confidential national helpline, which is open every day of the year to anyone in the farming community.

Gill is part of FCN’s national mental health steering group and helps with the running of the FCN helpline. She also represents FCN on the Prime Minister’s Rural Dementia Task and Finish Group, which aims to improve the lives of those living with dementia in rural communities.

The mind and body are the most important pieces of kit one can have when running a farming business. If they are not well maintained, the business will fail to run efficiently. This seminar will help identify poor mental and physical wellbeing, both in yourself and those closest to you, and provide guidance as to how you can improve these to help you run a resilient and successful farming business.
